The Foundation of Community Care
What Is Group Therapy at ACN?
Group therapy is a powerful clinical tool where individuals navigate the recovery journey together under the guidance of a licensed professional. At Adaptive Care Network, we facilitate small, focused groups that allow for meaningful interaction and shared healing. By participating in a group setting, you break the isolation often caused by addiction and realize you are not alone in your challenges. You can expect:
- Peer-Driven Support: Gain insights and encouragement from others who truly understand the journey.
- Clinically Guided: Every session is moderated by an expert clinician to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment.
- Interpersonal Growth: Practice communication and boundary-setting in a real-world social context.
The Role of Peer Support in Lasting Change
How Group Therapy Supports Recovery
Group therapy provides a unique social laboratory where you can practice new behaviors in a safe, clinical environment. At Adaptive Care Network, we focus on the collective power of shared experience to break the cycle of isolation that often fuels addiction.
Breaking the Cycle of Isolation
Addiction thrives in secrecy. Group therapy provides the immediate realization that you are not alone, reducing the shame and stigma that often prevent long-term healing.
Developing Social Resilience
Relearning how to communicate, listen, and express emotions without substances is critical. Group sessions allow you to practice these skills with peers who offer real-time, empathetic feedback.
A Culture of Accountability
When you are part of a recovery community, you aren’t just showing up for yourself, but showing up for the group. This peer-driven accountability is a powerful motivator during the challenging stages of residential treatment.
Integrating Community at Every Stage
Group Therapy Across All Levels of Care
With us, peer support is a clinical thread that runs through your entire journey. As you progress from medical stabilization to independent living, our group sessions evolve to meet your changing needs, ensuring you always have a community to lean on.

Navigating Mental Health Together
Group Support and Dual Diagnosis
We know that substance use often overlaps with mental health challenges. Our dual diagnosis groups provide a safe, clinical forum to discuss these co-occurring disorders. By sharing experiences in a moderated setting, you learn that your symptoms and your path to stabilization are shared by others. We provide specialized group tracks to address:
- Anxiety: Practicing social grounding and distress tolerance techniques in a supportive peer environment.
- Bipolar Disorder: Discussing mood regulation strategies and maintaining stability while navigating the recovery process.
- Depression: Breaking the cycle of isolation by connecting with others who understand the weight of lethargy and low mood.
- PTSD & Trauma: Participating in safe, trauma-informed sessions that prioritize emotional security and shared healing.

I can’t say enough good things about the detox unit at Huntington Beach Recovery Center. My cousin had been struggling with drug and alcohol abuse for years until he found this place by the grace of God. The level of care they provide is truly outstanding. Their clients receive around-the-clock medical supervision from a team that is not only knowledgeable and professional, but also genuinely empathetic and compassionate. Truly impressive! As a recovering alcoholic, I know detox can be one of the most difficult and vulnerable parts of beginning the recovery process, and having a staff that makes people feel safe, respected, and cared for can make all the difference. My cousin just raves about the team at Huntington Beach Recovery Center and how they went above and beyond to provide such top-notch care and support for him throughout his entire detox process. I would highly recommend Huntington Beach Recovery Center to anyone looking for a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment to begin their journey toward recovery.Posted on Google![]()

I went to this program last year. I was not an ideal patient. I was very angry and emotional in general. I had a lot of trauma and mental health issues that needed to be worked on which my clinician helped me work through. Danielle, the program director, was amazing and really helped me out during some pretty dark days for me there. I appreciate all that you guys do and I'm really grateful for all your help. God bless you guysPosted on Google![]()

I am so thankful for NJRS. This facility has truly saved me from the darkest time in my life. From the moment I made the first step to call, the admission team was nothing but friendly and supportive. They continued to check in on me daily leading up to me being transported to their facility. The clinical team works hard to create meaningful and engaging sessions that focus on recovery and mental health. I especially appreciated Sharice and Raff. With all of the clients they interact with daily, they always remembered my story. They challenged me to think in new ways to truly better understand my addiction. The therapists were patient and catered each session to my individual needs. I stayed at the housing available to PHP clients. Oscar and his team were so supportive. Carrie Ann and Oscar especially got me through my toughest days. The staff was able to relate to my journey and took the time to get to know me beyond my addiction. The houses were comfortable and provided me with the structure and love I needed to complete the program. NJSL was my home away from home for many weeks. The other clients and staff became my family and support system. This program gave me the confidence to embark on my next chapter. Thank you for giving me another chance at a long, happy, sober life.Posted on Google![]()

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I be forced to speak or share my story?
No. While participation is encouraged, your comfort level is always respected. Many patients find value simply by listening to others’ experiences until they feel ready to share their own.
How large are the therapy groups?
We prioritize intimate, high-impact settings. Groups are typically kept to 8–12 participants maximum to ensure every individual has the opportunity to receive clinical attention and peer feedback.
Is what I say in group therapy kept private?
Yes. Confidentiality is a core pillar of our network. All participants must agree to strict privacy rules to ensure that everything discussed remains within the clinical setting, protected by HIPAA standards.
Can I choose which groups I attend?
Your clinical team will recommend specific tracks, such as CBT skills, relapse prevention, or dual diagnosis, based on your treatment plan, but we work with you to ensure the groups align with your personal recovery goals.
How does group therapy help more than individual therapy?
While individual therapy focuses on your personal history, group therapy provides a social laboratory to practice real-world communication and coping skills. It breaks the isolation of addiction by connecting you with a supportive community.
